Geospatial-Genomic Mapping of Pest-Pathogen Dynamics for Next-Gen Biocontrol Solutions in Natural Farming Systems Across Agroclimatic Zones of India
Dr. Kadiri Mahendra, Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, School of Agriculture, Kaveri University, Gowraram, Siddipet, Telangana – 502279
This project integrates Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), and multi-omics profiling to map pest-pathogen dynamics and identify climate-resilient biocontrol solutions in natural farming systems across India’s agroclimatic zones. Native microbes will be isolated and characterized for antagonistic potential, with mechanisms studied via transcriptomics, metabolomics, and molecular docking. Predictive models will integrate genomic, climatic, and spatial data for optimized, region-specific biocontrol deployment, contributing to sustainable, chemical-free pest management.
Multi-location sampling, GPS data integration, GWAS-based virulence profiling, microbial isolation & screening, genome sequencing of promising strains, multi-omics profiling, molecular docking studies, and predictive modelling for region-specific, climate-adapted deployment strategies.
2 years (2026–2027)
Development of a geospatial-genomic database, identification of 5 high-potential microbial strains, reduced pest-related losses, 30–40% reduction in input costs, enhanced climate resilience in natural farming, and open-access decision-support tools for farmers.
